Who we are

Sterawatt is an energy transition intelligence platform. References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to Sterawatt and its operators. This policy describes how we handle personal data collected through sterawatt.com and related services.

Data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide our service:

• Account data — email address and password (hashed) when you create an account.
• Usage data — pages visited, features used, and session duration. Used to improve the product. Not sold.
• Communication data — email address and message content if you contact us or subscribe to our newsletter.
• Payment data — if you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store card details.

How we use your data

• To authenticate you and maintain your session
• To deliver the newsletter if you have subscribed
• To respond to contact form submissions
• To understand how the product is used and improve it
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell personal data. We do not share it with third parties except as required to operate the service (hosting, authentication, payment processing) or as required by law.

Cookies and tracking

We use a single session cookie (__session) to maintain your authenticated session. This cookie is httpOnly, SameSite strict, and expires after 5 days. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking scripts.

Data retention

Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@sterawatt.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Security

We use industry-standard security practices including TLS encryption in transit, httpOnly cookies, and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your data.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify subscribers by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.
